call for music nerdity

senioritis is making a mix-tape and needs help with the songlist. she says:

There’s the R.E.M. song “End of the World as We Know It” and the Billy Joel “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” both of which offer fast-paced cultural catalogues. What other songs do this?

contributions so far include: Simon and Garfunkel’s “A Simple Desultory Philippic (Or How I Was Robert McNamara’d Into Submission),” Lou Reed’s “Sick of You,” Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues,” “Numb” by U2 and “1985” by Bowling for Soup.

and…
“the great song of indifference” by bob geldof. it’s not exactly a cultural catalog, but it’s got a similar nature, and it’s deeply insidious – gets looped on the radio in my head at least once a week.

Done too Soon
by Neil Diamond. I know, but the song is good. It starts out with a long list and then slows.

I’m not sure about face-paced cultural catalogues.
The 2 you mentioned were the first to come to mind.
How about Baz Luhrman’s advice to the graduates of the class of ’97?
