still

4 12 2007

falling, still
piling, still
clogging up the ways, still
hanging on, still
hanging in, still
falling behind
.
.
.
still failing at the impossible
still undertaking it anyway
still thinking about her every day
still living half-lives (how many)
still breathing in
still breathing out
still not the only one
.
.
.
who knows, although
i don’t know anything. still,
the words sift down, still
i sift through them, still
they’ll never be enough to still
the reckless spinning, stop
the glass from spilling,
.
.
.
staining, still
straining, still
waiting, still
intact, still
incomplete, still
standing, still
standing still.

Oh, Tyra. That’s such a beautiful poem. I wish I could be up there in the snow with you so I could give you a big hug.
