dear google-filtered web-weather

30 03 2008

how can you tell me that the low today is 29° but that it’s currently 15°?

i wouldn’t totally mind just freezing, although i was hoping it was actually somewhere near the day’s low so that i could take a walk in this improbable sunshine without risking frostbite to my face, but is a little consistency among the three wee numbers you toss onto my screen really too much to ask for?

seriously.

Did you leave your lights on during Earth Hour to help speed up global warming? That would make it warmer. Winters would be shorter.

i used my laptop in the dark. i know that doesn’t really count, but the ogres were making “feed us draft now!” noises down in the cellar, and i got nervous.

This concerns me, as Google is the one thing I can count on in this life. Google can’t be wrong!

MUST STEAL
While I agree Google is the best thing since sliced bread, which I guess isn’t hard as I’m not all that fond of sliced bread, more of a croisant, pita, misc. loaf kind of guy. Like today, we actually had a cookout where we had local Iraqi food. It came with large pitaesque bread thingees (not knowing Arabic I substitured the previous highly tenchical culinary terms), which several of the Marines tried dished the lamb and rice onto and tried to make enormous burritos out of. However as we had my boss around who more days than not goes out on engagements with the local populace, we had someone to intruct us in the proper way to do it. i.e. tear off a good sized panel and scoop up the food off the common platter and proceed to chow down with gusto. Refreshingly simple. Almost like it was how people did it a thousand of years ago… hey… wait… Now if only their cultural institutions didn’t similarly reflect… oops, did I type that. Chhalk it up to frustration, with what I won’t say as that would be a post in itself…
Oops… did I digress… can’t imagine, never happens, won’t happen again… really…
Anyways, google, while I LOVE it, and the thought it could be wrong is truly terrifying, I mean if that which which we look to for all answers is proved false, civilization will spiral into darkness (i.e. the period before the internet and google), the real reason I responded was to thank you for the laughter your userpic with ONOZ and OMG brought me, the rest was bonus 🙂
