…through the seasons so fast the brightest leaves are already on the ground more often than they’re overhead, and i’ve hardly had a chance to scrunch through any of them at all

…over hill and hill and stretch and stretch of asphalt: to philly, ellicott city, where-the-fuck-is-honey-brook, exton, york, and syracuse again last weekend & forth & back & forth to utica since (i’ve spent 2 of the last 7 days not on highways for many hours. but when your people throw fancy shindigs & go making epic promises in pretty formalwear, you kinda have to be there!)

…through inhuman stacks of papers. 13 to go (until or unless some of the ones who, for various reasons, didn’t get them in the first time manage to cause papers I will actually accept to materialize, which is possible) from batch 1 and 90 new ones arriving during the day monday, which is incidentally when midterm grades are due, but i got one done today, along with 10 presentations, during my 4-hour tutoring appointment wherein i also met with 5 students (and did i mention i taught a class this morning, made breakfast for a friend, and crossed an hour of quickly-denuding-treed highway?)

…past so much of the calendar (and my to-do lists) that i don’t even see huge chunks of it go by (what was that about writing poetry with ariel?)

…through caleb’s babyhood so fast he’s microseconds away from walking fifteen times a day already, and better at making that loud tongue-clicking noise than i am

…across the state home to grab stuff from my house and jet off to join the gathering taking S out for birthday dinner & promising to clean up after the after-party!

I can’t believe I didn’t see you today.
It’s a blur right now, but we’ll be that much more grateful in December.
I’ve decided. =)
