this is the last one, i promise

saturday we made progress on the treehouse, lovely artsy progress that i’ll have to get the photos up to show you. it was sunny and dreamy and wonderful, and made all the more fun by the fact that people! came to help! one of those people was badger, who came inside and formally introduced himself to jamie, as jamie was uncertain as to whether or not he remembered this person.

“my name is jamie,” the wee person said.
“my name is badger,” said badger.
the wee person then made a noise like “adzha-adzha-adzha,” and jumped up and down in a somewhat rhythmic fashion. as 3-year-olds jump up and down a lot, and often make incomprehensible noises, it wasn’t at first evident that he was making a cultural reference.

until he added “nushyoom nushyoom!”

by the time he got to “aaaaaaahzhaaaate!” i was mock-yelling “snaaaaake!” over him and chasing him with tickly fingers, and he was squealing and running out the door.

“i have little patience,” said badger, “when adults do that and think they’re clever, but that…”

indeed.
